I think it would have struck a chord with many, many classical music enthusiasts. I would venture to say that most of us who profess to love and enjoy music would have reacted the same way too, when faced with the myriad demands of city life. I know I would have.
This also brings to mind Li Yundi’s recent performance in Singapore and the audience’s reaction, as reviewed here and here. In this case, it was exactly the opposite situation. Audiences were cheering what was apparently a lousy performance, just because it was performed by a big name.
Something to think about. And reflect on.
